Having worked with thousands of women in the role of Somatic Educator and Therapist for 20 years, I have seen the cost of overriding ourselves. Why Online?

It might seem a bit paradoxical. I’m all for getting unplugged. But I want to make my DEEP REST® work accessible to all women. Everywhere. NOW.

Soooooooo many women say that when they do fiiiinally get that hour, an evening or the whole Saturday to themselves – they’re not sure where to begin. Or they’d float home after seeing me with a renewed intention to rest every day – but then life would rush back in and they struggled to prioritise rest.

Long before I began teaching people to rest, I was an activist and advocate for women. As a Creative Art Therapist I worked with Women recovering from the devastating effects of violence. Women in rehab. Young women in High Schools. Women who had eating disorders… All kinds of women. I’d write a funding application and do whatever it took to bring the work to the women who needed it most. 

So bringing this work to women online is my way of honouring the part of me that loves working with women. To serve more women. To take down the barriers – financial and geographic – between you and me so we can actually do this together!

I want every woman I know – and every woman who you know – to be deeply rested. Because we are gonna need it.

But also because I am an introvert and as my business started expanding last year I recognised I needed to create new ways to bring this important work to you. Ways that were less demanding and depleting of my own nervous system. It’s important for me to practice what I preach! Touring year round, running retreats and weekly classes and workshops and seeing clients and being so busy in response to the dire need – is not what I want to do. It’s not even close! It might sound glamorous, but it’s brutal for an introvert! Don’t get me wrong. I love this beautiful work, I love to teach it. But I love me more. I like a very spacious work life, very part-time. I value quiet, napping, scooting to the beach, creating, sharing food with close friends. I am not interested in building an empire. That’s why I went on sabbatical. To get really clear about just how to move forward with the work. In a new and deeply sustainable way.
This is it.
This is my way of reclaiming my inner activist, interrupting the status quo and serving humanity. It is an honest expression of my own self-care.

It breaks my heart that many women who need this the most will not even be reading this because they are so convinced that they can’t rest, are not deserving of it, just don’t have the time…

Think of this 2 weeks as a dress rehearsal for the life you really want. If that helps. A life where you learn to say “no” so you can actually experience more of what you want: space, juice, creativity, ease, joy, rest, pleasure. Yes!

THE COURSE Week one/entire structure:

  • I will gently introduce the work in a non-overwhelm kind of way. 
  • We begin to s-l-o-w – d-o-w-n and co-create an exquisite community (or a sweet solo) sanctuary. You decide how you want to participate! But we will create a safe 14-day online container to gently redefine and embody what it is to reeeeeally rest. I will be your companion and guide.
  • There will be some gentle inquiry and journalling, with optional juicy conversations and sharing in the online group to celebrate and champion each other as we rest. Some of it will be fun. Some might be challenging. All of it will be a relief. Empowering. Yes.
  • Clearly marked daily content will be easy to access without needing to join the community conversation – especially for the lone-wolf, digital-detoxer and introvert. Perfect!
  • I will offer gentle self-care prompts and permission slips each day as we make amends and renew our self-care vows.
  • There will be downloadable PDF’s you can print.
  • I will make sweet little audios just for you, just as you are. You can listen to either on-the-go or laying on your bed.
  • I will post instructional videos live in the group to show you how to optimise your rest. We will take napping and restorative yoga to a whole new level, darling.
  • This is the ground-work before we go deeper. This is what is often missing for women who don’t know how to stop let alone rest. It’s the crucial missing piece. It’s about aligning, creating safety, staying true, integrity.
    You’ll love it, darling.
  • There will be little, digestible nutrient-rich rest ‘snacks’. It’s a week of prep and getting oriented.

THE COURSE Week two:

  • We’ll dive in a little deeper. You can still work and be a Mum and do all that needs doing. But I will teach you how to create houurrrrs every week that you didn’t think you had. For resting. Promise.
  • A beautiful deepening process where we nap and rest and repair our sleep and deeeeeeepen. The snacks become meals. I give you actual practices and tools.
  • Day 12: It culminates in a 2-day DEEP REST® retreat immersion that is perfectly hand-crafted just for you.
  • In the same way as you would need to organise everything (childcare, clear the schedule) for an actual retreat we will do the same.
  • This is YOUR retreat. We will do a juicy process to dream it up and plan and prepare for the perfect weekend.
  • All with me as your live, real-time midwife. This is the feast. The banquet. (But you can just snack if thats how you want to participate.) You are all welcome, just as you are.

WEEKEND RETREAT:

  • You can do it solo, in a yurt in the forest, at home or in a luxe hotel room. Grab some girlfriends and rent a beach house or invite your bestie to come stay at your apartment for the weekend.
  • You will rest deeply into the buoyancy, companionship and support of the online group as you feel to – and celebrate your sweet solitude as you need it.
  • Loads of solo off-line time for long stretches of sleep, napping, making wholesome food, journaling, soaking in the bath and self pampering however that looks for you.
  • Day 14: A gentle spacious day of integration. We re-enter the world of work and family and commitments from a new way of being. This is in some ways the best bit. Because you get to see how much you’ve let go of. How juicy you feel. How delicious the world is when we are deeply rested and resourced.
  • There will be optional tools for expediting cellular repair and cultivating profound parasympathetic states.

Highly Sensitive and introverted women.
Stress, Trauma and Anxiety:

You are highly sensitive, prone to overwhelm. Perhaps you have PTSD. You will learn unique and powerful ways to regulate and instantly find deep calm. 

Chronically stressed and highly sensitive people often have a disruption in their sensory integration processing. Stress, illness, hyper-arousal (of the nervous system), and trauma can create a chronic ‘restlessness’ or baseline anxiety. This impacts your ability to relax, focus, unwind and even sleep. DEEP REST® integrates various tools that initiate a biological relaxation response and deep sense of safety – for instant calm. In turn – this can radically improve the quality of your rest practice, naps and sleep. Not to mention your work and energy and relationships! It also helps to fast-track cellular repair and the recovery from a host of illnesses.

If you’re familiar with the term “sensory overload,” you have an idea what sensory processing issues are, and how it might ‘feel’ in this busy sensory-rich world. People with sensory processing issues can be oversensitive to sights, sounds, textures, flavours, smells and other sensory input. Disturbances in our ability to process this information can seriously affect how we cope with our day-to-day life. Sensory processing sensitivity is a complex neurological condition that happens because the brain has trouble ‘organising’ information from the senses. In effect – we can become overstimulated, uncomfortable and overwhelmed, or if we are hypo-sensitive we can seek sensory experiences. Most common in my clients is a hyper-sensitivity. It presents as an over-arousal in the nervous system and can make day-to-day living overwhelming and challenging, and many people live with anxiety and other complex issues, and will avoid certain situations and experiences to modify or avoid overstimulation.

 

 

Women recovering from Adrenal Fatigue:

You have or have had adrenal fatigue, exhaustion, burnout or some kind of breakdown. We will nourish, tonify and begin to heal your adrenals.

How are your adrenals? Are you always tired? Trouble sleeping? Do you prop yourself up with stimulants? Or maybe you’ve had a full-blown burnout or been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue? I’ve been there, and yes, it was brutal.
It can be a long recovery, but it is possible. Having worked with many people in recovery I can tell you that all the supplements and rest and organic wholesome food in the world won’t lead to recovery if you keep living like a machine darling. By that I mean A-types, over achievers, perfectionists. Women who live at a fast-pace, overstuff their lives, push, hustle, over ride their need for rest, down-time and integration. If you don’t get to the ‘root’ of your adrenal fatigue everything else is simply a band-aid.

What is uniquely potent about Kylian’s work is the way it educates, rewires and recalibrates you. The way you ‘do’ your life actually changes. It invites a different pace, chills you out, slows you down, has you get really honest. This retreat is a deep immersion so we get in underneath whatever has been keeping you from really resting the way you yearn to rest. Recovery from adrenal fatigue must also include recalibrating our patterns, our mindset, how we regard ourselves. How is your sleep? I am referring to nutrient-rich, adequate, sound, good quality, unbroken, consistent, reliable, satisfying and revitalising sleep. The kind of sleep healthy humans need and are designed to get each night so that you wake up consistently with a sense of “get-up-and-go”. Many people don’t even realise their sleep is compromised, until their body breaks down. In the face of our burgeoning global sleep-crisis – sleep is fast becoming one of our most valuable currencies. Women in Pain.
Women who need a little taste of PSOAS LOVE® and Fascia and Fluid-Body awareness:

Soooooo many women live with pain! Sacro-iliac or pelvic instability, tight or painful hips, groin, Lower back or neck pain. Perhaps you sit a lot or you have an old injury?

This work will begin to liberate your psoas simply by learning to slow down and rest. However, PSOAS LOVE® is a whole stand-alone and very juicy science-meets-soul body of work that we can’t cover here. However my work is always a cross-pollination, so we will borrow a little from it depending on what shows up with the women who sign up. Most women I meet need it! So I can give you some of the more accessible stuff. Stuff we can do in our beds. Because who couldn’t do with a happier pelvis (and diaphragm, and hips and spine….), and more space and ease in your hips and lumbar? Done. Easy.

Your Psoas is a master communicator: Tight, overused and exhausted – or supple and dynamic – the Psoas intrinsically connects our sense of Self – with much of our biological human experience, including: sleep, movement, posture, pain, pelvic integrity, anxiety, flexibility, digestion, sexuality, immune, adrenal and hormonal function. Our bodies are designed to move – a lot, but today’s sedentary lifestyle has people sitting for long hours or engaging in repetitive movements, impacting posture, spinal health and the state of the Psoas and nervous system. The result? A psoas, brain and nervous system that are ‘always-on’. My delicious sloooooow Psoas releases – bring utter and instant relief – by creating space in the hip sockets and lumbar spine – and balance to the pelvis. This is imperative to supporting the resolution of pelvic and SIJ instability – and a happy, juicy, expressive psoas. It fast-tracks your nervous system repair.

What qualifies me for this role?

I am a recovering perfectionist and napping expert. I am a rest activist. An oracle. Renowned for my work with the Psoas and teaching the art of DEEP REST® I live by example and hold space for women who are ready to slow down and be where they are. Women who are ready to rest, and to cease worshipping at the alter of busy and tend to their own devotion and care. I bring all of myself to the work – and in doing so – I give you permission to do the same.

I experienced a full breakdown in 2011. It was brutal. The inevitable result of living life inside an old story. Overriding myself – on the brink of burnout, carrying around my unresolved trauma – for a really long time. But it turned out that my breakdown was the biggest breakthrough of my life. At 40 – I decided to be a stand for myself – like never before – and I packed up my precious life and relocated to Byron to transform my life and health, and unwittingly – birth something new.

This beautiful, important work is the result.

And now I am a stand for all women to listen more deeply, and to rest.

I am a straight-talker – so my delivery can be feisty, playful, and heartfelt. I’m no longer hiding from the world. I have Superpowers, and I own them. That’s why people travel from far away places to work – and play – with me.

And I know I annoy some people. People might get upset or jealous because I am having what they secretly ache for. Rest. So I sometimes get haters (on social media), and that’s ok. It lets me know I am doing a good job. Because I am here to be disruptive, to help create a world brimming with well-rested women. So I tend to get all up-in-your-face about why you need to start prioritising rest. Because collectively, we are in real trouble. I no longer need you to like me. I need you to listen.

I’m curious what will we actually be ‘doing’?

What is the commitment and structure each day for this 14-day course and retreat? 

Your’e busy, I get it. So I have made this as overwhelm-free as possible. I have also designed it so you can do a little bit or all of it. You may just listen to an audio every day for 5 minutes as you lay on your bed and breathe with me guiding you. Some women have told me they intend to take 2-weeks off and go ALL-THE-WAY! Amazing huh?

But I get that it can be almost impossible for the women who are mothering and working and juggling so much to find 10 minutes per day. SO the 2-day retreat in bed on the last few days will likely be a stretch but I am going to support all women – especially mothers – to do whatever needs to be done to make that possible. So whatever you can do – the absolute minimum or the full monty – I guarantee we will all slow down, create some more breathing space around things, and yes: Rest. 

The results will be in direct proportion to your commitment and attitude. I have seen it time and time again. 

THE COURSE Week one/entire structure:

  • I will gently introduce the work in a non-overwhelm kind of way. 
  • We begin to s-l-o-w – d-o-w-n and co-create an exquisite community (or a sweet solo) sanctuary. You decide how you want to participate! But we will create a safe 14-day online container to gently redefine and embody what it is to reeeeeally rest. I will be your companion and guide.
  • There will be some gentle inquiry and journalling, with optional juicy conversations and sharing in the online group to celebrate and champion each other as we rest. Some of it will be fun. Some might be challenging. All of it will be a relief. Empowering. Yes.
  • Clearly marked daily content will be easy to access without needing to join the community conversation – especially for the lone-wolf, digital-detoxer and introvert. Perfect!
  • I will offer gentle self-care prompts and permission slips each day as we make amends and renew our self-care vows.
  • There will be downloadable PDF’s you can print.
  • I will make sweet little audios just for you, just as you are. You can listen to either on-the-go or laying on your bed.
  • I will post instructional videos live in the group to show you how to optimise your rest. We will take napping and restorative yoga to a whole new level, darling.
  • This is the ground-work before we go deeper. This is what is often missing for women who don’t know how to stop let alone rest. It’s the crucial missing piece. It’s about aligning, creating safety, staying true, integrity.

THE COURSE Week two:

  • We’ll dive in a little deeper. You can still work and be a Mum and do all that needs doing. But I will teach you how to create houurrrrs every week that you didn’t think you had. For resting. Promise.
  • A beautiful deepening process where we nap and rest and repair our sleep and deeeeeeepen. The snacks become meals. I give you actual practices and tools.
  • Day 12: It culminates in a 2-day DEEP REST® retreat immersion that is perfectly hand-crafted just for you.
  • In the same way as you would need to organise everything (childcare, clear the schedule) for an actual retreat we will do the same.
  • This is YOUR retreat. We will do a juicy process to dream it up and plan and prepare for the perfect weekend.
  • All with me as your live, real-time midwife. This is the feast. The banquet. (But you can just snack if thats how you want to participate.) You are all welcome, just as you are.

WEEKEND RETREAT:

  • You can do it solo, in a yurt in the forest, at home or in a luxe hotel room. Grab some girlfriends and rent a beach house or invite your bestie to come stay at your apartment for the weekend.
  • you will rest deeply into the buoyancy, companionship and support of the online group as you feel to – and celebrate your sweet solitude as you need it.
  • Loads of solo off-line time for long stretches of sleep, napping, making wholesome food, journaling, soaking in the bath and self pampering however that looks for you.
  • Day 14: A gentle spacious day of integration. We re-enter the world of work and family and commitments from a new way of being. This is in some ways the best bit. Because you get to see how much you’ve let go of. How juicy you feel. How delicious the world is when we are deeply rested and resourced.

How do we access this online course and the retreat?

The entire content of this 14-day retreat will be contained within a Secret Facebook group. For those who do not like to be on FB I get it. But it means I get to bring this work to you NOW rather than in another year – which is how long it would take me to build an online course. It also means it is super affordable rather than 4 times the price. FB has finally caught up and now offers a wonderful online course structure where the daily content is filed so it is super clean and user friendly. So even if you are a total non-social media introvert or get overwhelmed easily you can bypass ALL the posts within the community feed and simply access the lessons to do your own process. Easy.

There will be several group calls on another platform called Zoom. It is also easy. (It’s all about ease). You simply download the app and when I post the link to the call in the module you click on it and you’re in. If this freaks you out don’t worry! You do not NEED to attend these. I will not be officially teaching here. This is more of a check-in and troubleshooting opportunity. You get to work directly with me! It will be necessary for the retreat weekend however as I will host much of the weekend in a live video stream. So even when we are resting, journalling, making lunch – I will be here doing the same.

Also – you can watch the replays if you can’t make a live video call. Easy.

 

Format at a glance:

If you tend to get distracted on social media then just know you are not alone. We will look at this on day one because there will be an optional and highly recommended Digital Detox as part of our time together. So you will decide on the level of detox that is doable given your work commitments then make an agreement. It’s all about self-love, darling.

I will teach you via FB LIVE videos and downloadable PDF’s inside the group and modules. Each days content will also be posted in the feed for women who like to engage and champion one another. Super easy. You do not need to be a techy expert. You do not have to engage in the the conversation. This is all about YOU.

I will offer random Permission slips and prompts in the feed too. But not much. Foremost it will be spacious and restful.

 

What about the different timezones?

My timezone is Australian Eastern Daylight Time (GMT+11).

My intention is that time zones will be largely irrelevant during this online gathering because most of the 14 days are to be explored in your own time, at your own pace. The primary connection will be inside the FB group. And once you are all signed up I will look at the timezones and be sure to post randomly each day so that all women around the world are equally welcomed and included. How’s that sound?

If you do want to join the LIVE video calls on weekend – and particularly the final weekend retreat then you can look at some options for making it work. One option is to simply access the videos and do the lessons after they have been recorded at a time that suits you. Another would be to do your retreat at a weird time (this is not my recommendation).

I work with people via Skype and zoom and FB live all the time and we just make it work.

 

Do I need any special materials to do this online retreat?

No, and yes. I have designed this to be do-able for every woman. Not the usual plethora of special props needed for my more sciency PSOAS LOVE® work. There will be a small list of household things (like pillows and blankets) as well as a more detailed OPTIONAL list for women who want to go all the way. Once you sign up you will receive an email with information about this, and time to gather what you need to make this the very best stay-at-home retreat experience possible.
